Performance Evaluation of a Typical 50kWp Solar Park Village
Performance evaluation was carried out on a 50kW solar powered mini off-grid system in Cameroon, a module adopted by the government to solve rural electricity crises.
This projected 5.9 GW capacity savings is more than the total anticipated hydropower capacity in the Energy Sector Development Project (PDSEN) of the Cameroon's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources .
Depending on the extent of demand-side energy efficiency measures, up to 41% of planned installed capacity and 21% of associated financial costs could be avoided in 2045. However, power losses reduction holds the most benefits for the Cameroon generation system.
The distribution network, consisting of over 22608 km distribution lines is operated by the utility company Energy of Cameroon (ENEO) . The nation of 26.55 million people has an electricity access rate of 70% in 2020. Rural and urban electrification rates were 32% and 98% respectfully [23, 24].
Another issue of the Cameroon power system is the absence of energy efficiency or demand side measures, which guarantees a safe, reliable and affordable option to reducing emissions and demand according to International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) .
