Tesla Battery Calibration | Why you need this and how to calibrate
This video describes why you need battery calibration for your EV (eg. Tesla) and how to do calibration properly to help Battery Management System (BMS) better estimating range.
Battery Performance Boost: The BMS's (battery management system) calibration may aid in enhancing battery performance. The battery's charging and discharging cycles are precisely managed by the BMS after calibration. Fix Battery Issues: Your Tesla battery may be giving you trouble.
Validating battery management system (BMS) circuits requires measuring the BMS system behavior under a wide range of operating conditions. Learn how to use a battery emulator to conduct precise, safe, and reproducible tests to verify the accuracy, functionality, and safety tests of your BMS.
Calibration of the BMS might be used to address reduced range or unexpected battery discharge. Improve Range Accuracy: Based on some factors, the BMS in your Tesla determines your range. The battery's temperature, driving history, and current state of charge (SOC) are these factors.
If you suspect calibration rather than cell balancing to be the issue, e.g. the car has not been left below 50% for some time, then you can focus on BMS calibration going forward. We have seen up to 6% of the lost range being recovered this way. If you are still worried after doing both these things, then contact Tesla. Advanced level only!
