Shop String Inverter Systems
Shop for string inverter systems from the most trusted brands in the solar industry.
Most solar panel contractors charge around $50 to $100 per hour. You may save $1,000 to $2,500 up-front by choosing a string inverter over a microinverter or hybrid inverter. A solar inverter costs $2,000 on average, with prices often ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. That said, some homeowners spend as little as $800 or as much as $5,000.
Inverter string size refers to the number of solar panels that can be wired on a single inverter input. A group of solar panels wired in one input is called a panel string. Most string inverters have 3 inputs that can hold 8 panels each for 24 in total.
To choose a string inverter, consider the following parameters: first, look at the system's generation efficiency. Typically, string inverters are efficient anywhere from 95% onwards, with some models reaching 96 or 97% efficiency. Additionally, consider the overall generation and total cost of ownership, or energy cost.
The inverter's capacity should closely match the DC size of your solar panels. For example, a 6 kW solar array typically pairs with a 6 kW inverter; however, slightly smaller or larger inverters may be used, depending on the system design.
